Forgot to mention.....
Went out last night.
As in, proper went out, to a gig. Shameful that it's the first one I've ever gone to (sheltered me).
Twas a part of the stag and dagger festival "Smash Japan & Strummerville present 100% Genki", a night of some new Japanese bands.
And they. were.
amazing.
First lot up, a group called 80 kids. Pretty funkay music played, both guitarists pretty good looking, and the girl was so damned tiny and cute. Liked their music quite a bit. Also seems that DJ Mike, a fellow ichinbensei, is mates with them. Hmmm.
Next up, a Dj called De De Mouse, who seemed to think we were in Hoxton and not London, but was so farkin loopy and hyper that it didn't really matter. Some fab synthesizer and beats and stuff.
The next guy up, Tucker, didn't play anything too much to my taste, but was a one band guy, who played random instruments everywhere and then set fire to the top of his own keyboard. Then headstanding on it. And other bixarre acrobatics. Okay then.
Finishing up with a funky funky band called Riddim Saunter, with a drummer who was a very very genki man, a man with a trumpet and FLUTE, a couple of good looking guitarists, and a very good looking lead singer, who played a mean cowbell. I danced my arse off, everyone danced their arse off, it was good all around. Shall be perusing for downloadable music of them at some point.
Wish I'd've taken my camera though, so I could've had some pics to show you. Oh, and so I could've shown you pics of the incredibly good looking guys in hats that I spied halfway through the night. Got close to them during the dancing, but not close enough to warrant names and numbers, damnit. Although, apparantly they're mates of the guy who organises the London/Japan language exchange, and is friends with some of the 4th years I got talking to (one of whom will still be around next year). So there be potential connections. And yes, all of those good looking men I was taking about, were Japanese. Hello ikemen.
It's also rather shaneful that barely anyone from the group turned up. Just myself, G, Alice, and G's flatmate (who's a right funny bloke). We were later jouned by Hanna and Aliczia, but they left midway through Tucker performing :/ Jack from the flat next door also was around, and he's a comedy bloke when drunk. Like refusing to get off the bus when it's our stop, cause he'd rather talk about the imaginary yacht he doesn't own. Baka.
But seriously. Amazing night out, some amazing music and dancing. Come September, shall be seeking out maybe more.
